So I just got back last night from a brony convention in San Francisco. I was working a booth for a vendor friend, and let me tell you what happened:
We met a little girl who was there with her family. She got a button drawn at our booth, told us all about her favorite…
You do know that story was made up, right?
As some of you might know, Skoon is being forced out of his home because his moron of a roommate got arrested for downloading child porn. He’s sitting in jail now, and Skoon and his remaining roommate are being stuck with that guy’s place under his name.
They have to move out within a few weeks with plans to head up to New York, and likely be without internet for a time. I want to be able to help, and I’m hoping you all can, too, by donating what you can so that they don’t have to leave empty-handed. I would appreciate you helping out a friend and fellow artist, and he too extends his thanks for anyone that could help.
Send a donation to irrlvnt1 at aol dot com on paypal if you’re able. Thanks for reading.
As I am living currently with my brother here, I feel I should thank you all as well. Your kindness cannot be overstated.
I would like to add my thanks, being the other roommate. Though I will add that a uhaul big enough for us to use will cost over $1000, not including gas, or other moving expenses. I don’t mean to sound greedy here. I am just trying to be realistic. We already have just under 340 and I would like to thank any and all donators thus far.
UPDATE: We have just over $450, but we have about 3 weeks till we have to move. I am also thinking,to spur on anyone who might want to give. I can give away my comicon Derpy and perhaps a few other things. to one of the donators at random as a thank you. Perhaps more stuff in necessary. If you can’t donate, but can pitch in with stuff to add to give way please let me know at this tumblr. We are looking to hopefully have roughly $4000 to help cover the rather expensive moving costs, and rent issues and whatnot. I know this sounds like a lot, and it is, but we could really use your help.
Sorry if this seems like spam. We have just under 670 at the moment, I will say this. I also have the first series of mlp collector cards. All of them but the con exclusives. I suppose I could also proffer these up as a thank you item as well to be chosen at random, though for something like this I might exclude donations under a set amount. Again, if anyone has anything to add to this, let me know at evilpoptartpony.tumbler.com I would appreciate any added assistance, even if it is just a simple reblog.
Our address again is irrlvnt1@aolDOTcom
780 of the 4000 goal. nearly 1/4 there. I would love to thank all the supportive people and comments so far. Also, we will be chronicling our travels as they happen. As I said before we have just about 3 weeks from today to raise the funds. Remember, the address for donations is email@example.com
Guys, this is actually kinda serious. Skoon is a wonderful artist and has been here pretty much since the beginning. Noone deserves to go through what he is going through. Let’s try and give him a hand, huh?
Dunno if I reblogged this yet, but help the guy out. Anything helps.
I completely forgot about today until my boss came up to me and told me Happy Birthday… So, um… Happy birthday to me?
My present to myself: sleeping when I get home… yeah. That sounds good.
A feminism comic I did for my uni’s newspaper. I wish I had a bit more time to work on it, but I’m pleased with how it came out considering the tight deadline!
As much as I like people promoting Equal Rights, i have a few problems with this comic.
The first and third point I completely agree with, and those things need to change. But points 2 and 4 I have a few comments to make.
First off, I’d like to point out that these are my opinions from my own personal experiences.
Point two: When I’ve seen woman go to my managers to bring up a problem in the workplace, they are very demanding. They say “This is a problem and it needs fixed.” They are practically ordering the manager to fix something they do not like, even if the problem is a big problem. When I’ve seen men go the the manager, they are usually less demanding. “There is something we need to discuss, because it is effecting my job.” It might sound selfish, but it comes off much better with the manager. The employee who says it the second way gets praised much more than if the boss is approached the first way.
The fourth point: Because the guy is fighting for the rights of someone else, he looks more ‘knightly’, as you said. it is because he is not benefiting from it and it looks more selfless. While the woman is fighting for her own rights. And as the comic says, she got angry and started to argue, not debate. When a person gets angry and starts yelling because they are not getting their way, they look childish and are told to quiet down and sit in the corner.
I’m not saying that feminism is not something that needs to stop, but you need to focus on how you are presenting it. If you are calling everyone who disagrees with you an enemy, then you are going it the wrong way and you will make them hate you more than you will get them on your side.
Again, my opinion. There it is as much as my two cents is worth.
